Hot off the presses!

We had a mini milestone recently. Boulder-Hill.net passed 200 Likes on Facebook. To that, thank you to everyone who has clicked and reposted and shared, things like that help keep the site growing.

Film1Boulder-Hill.net was contacted a while back by David Guivant. David is, among other things, an independent film maker and a M.A.S.K. fan! And he has been hard at work creating his own M.A.S.K. film and was kind enough to share some information with Boulder-Hill.net. And so, better late than never (sorry David!), here are the words and ideas of David Guivant.

"Post-production on my latest new project : Mobile • Armored • Strike • Kommand (Live action) has begun, inspired by THE 1980s hit cartoon and famous toyline M . A . S . K.

A very ambitious and non-profit project indeed as for those who are not familiar with the M.A.S.K franchise, this adventure is a cross between GIJOE and FAST & FURIOUS. Some other insight on the storyline which will take place many years after the first season of M.A.S.K and Scott is going through college, fans can expect some updated vehicles as well as a new and more compact T-BOB.

Principal photography already ended and the project is slated for a Dec 2016 release.

I also received a mail of praise from Joe Del Beato, original inker on the M.A.S.K comic book from DC Comics and Doug Stone (Original voice for Matt Trakker) also gave it’s blessing and is amazed that M.A.S.K is still popular after so many years."

Good luck David, it looks like you’ve taken on an amazing an ambitious project!

There is never a lack of things to post when it comes to M.A.S.K., despite the show being nearly thirty years old. This time, the new addition will find a home in our Merchandise section. Some time back, a set of M.A.S.K. party accessories made their way onto the site. Now they are joined by the party mask! Although it is M.A.S.K., it is hard to pretend these are anything other than a cheaply made product hoping to earn someone an easy buck. The masks are printed on cardboard and vaguely resemble the eye visor for Matt’s Spectrum mask. Despite the cheapness, it’s still M.A.S.K.! And so it will always find a home Boulder-Hill.net.

ig15genmayhemWEBIn more exciting news, a new G.I. Joe figure was just announced: General Mayhem! And as you can guess, it’s an update to Miles Mayhem. The news was revealed to us by GIJoeCon.com. The figure looks pretty great and will be a perfect pairing for Agent Trakker!

And to the faithful readers of Boulder-Hill.net, sorry about the delay for Bulldog. It’s coming soon, promise!

Live!

Just a quick update.

Tonight, I’ll be joining Jason and Wyatt of Agents of M.A.S.K. and Bill of Matt-Trakker.com for a live recording of MASKast. Starting at 9pm, eastern time.

You’ll have a chance to hear us talk about Series 2 toys, as well as some of the rumors surrounding the future of M.A.S.K. It should be a lot of fun! The link below will let you tune in:

MASKast Live

Rust in the gears…

The first post of 2015, and in January, barely. There has been a lot of chatter in the M.A.S.K. world lately. Most of you have have probably heard some of it, but for anyone who has not we will do a little run down.

AOM LOGOFirst off, Jason and Wyatt over at Agents of M.A.S.K. have been in the studio and turning out new episodes like they are possessed! The shows are better than ever. This includes an interview with Doug Stone, the man behind the voice of Matt Trakker, Bruce Sato and a bunch of other characters from M.A.S.K. characters. They have also revamped the intro for the show to give 2015 a fresh start, make sure to check out their new codenames and vehicles! As always, if you are a M.A.S.K. fan MASKast is a must-listen-to.

The other big news in the M.A.S.K. community is the speculation of a return or revival of M.A.S.K. in 2015. As many people know, 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of M.A.S.K. – this had already started the thought in many peoples heads that M.A.S.K. might return. With the revivals of lots of other ’80s properties; such as G.I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony, Jem and even Rainbow Brite, M.A.S.K. making a return does not seem so far fetched. Add to that that Hasbro (Kenner was purchased by Tonka who was in turn purchased by Hasbro) had applied for a new trademark on M.A.S.K. and it appeared that it was not only fans who were showing an interest in the franchise.

NTF2015And then, a few days ago, word came from a representative at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2015 that indeed, M.A.S.K. was coming back in the near future! The mention of M.A.S.K. was as brief as it could be – check the link (thanks to Brian for sending it out). Just enough to set the imagination of fans on fire and set us all speculating. Will it be a reissue of the original line? If new designs, will they use the same characters? The same scale? It could be anything! The general reaction from the fan community has been positive. After so long with almost zero new M.A.S.K. property (excepting the 2008 release of Agent Trakker from G.I. Joe) fans seem eager for anything.

In other news, Bill over on Matt-Trakker.com has decided to archive his forums. But do not fear, he is not closing down. Bill stated that he thought there was a better way to facilitate communication among the M.A.S.K. fans of the world. And to that end he has launched an open Facebook group. The old forums will remain for browsing and informational purposes, so do not worry about losing anything on that end.

And last, but certainly not least, what has been happening at Boulder-Hill.net. Obviously, there have not been a lot of updates recently. It happens, unfortunately, but it always gets back up and running. A little while back, a new piece came into the collection, or more accurately, pieces. Two Bulldogs have made their way to Boulder-Hill.net. Neither was in perfect condition, but with a little bit of elbow grease and a good set of screw drivers two sad Bulldogs have combined to form one fantastic Bulldog (for our friends in Europe, Bulldog is better known to them as Bulldoze).

Below are some images of the stages to go from trash to treasue.

That is going to wrap things up for this update. Next time the completed photos of Bulldog will be ready for your viewing pleasure!

Happy M.A.S.K.iversary!

One more for the road

There is a lot happening behind the scenes to get ready for M.A.S.K.’s 29th birthday, however, that does not mean we can’t show off some things before then.

Our good and talented friend Darren, of Back To The Old Drawing Board, has done it again. This time with one of the staples of the M.A.S.K. team – Firecracker. As always, Darren’s keen eye and hand have rendered this vehicle in a great action pose, and with incredible detail as well. Continue reading

“Antimatter sure comes in handy”

Some great stuff for you today, so let’s not waste anymore time. Last week Darren Gregson sent two amazing pieces of original M.A.S.K. artwork. This week Darren sent another two pieces!

Condor Vampire& Stinger

The first piece is of my personal favorite, Brad Turner, riding his motorcycle Condor, which converts into a helicopter. The second piece features Floyd Malloy aboard Vampire – another flying motorcycle! In the background you can see Stinger (which was featured previously in it’s own piece). Just like his first two illustrations, Darren’s work is spectacular. All of his work shows a skilled hand and great attention to detail. boulder-hill.net wants to thank Darren again for sharing with us.

Back to the old drawing board

Those of you who follow other M.A.S.K. sites and news have probably already seen Darren Gregson’s work by now. Darren is an incredibly talented artist, who has recently turned his skills to M.A.S.K. vehicles. Today, boulder-hill.net has the privilege of adding two original drawings Darren sent us.
Both of these fantastic images are of VENOM vehicles. The first being Cliff Dagger’s Jackhammer and the second being Bruno ‘Mad Dog’ Sheppard’s Stinger. Both of these renderings were done by hand with pen and then later edited in Photoshop.

You can see both images in their high resolution versions on the Artwork page. Hopefully, M.A.S.K. continues to hold Darren’s interest and he produces more of these mind blowing illustrations.

While this is a shorter update than usual, it comes with the promise of exciting news. Check back on August 16th to find out what!

MASK_Pre_Order_Blog2

This morning, our friend Paul – of PaulPants.com –  sent over an email to let us know that his completely original Spectrum and Viper posters are going back into production. For those who have never seen them, the first run was printed at 18″ x 24″. This second run will be at a slightly reduced size of 12″ x 16″. The plus side is that Paul is able to price them to fly off the virtual shelf – only twenty dollars! The original run was beautiful and glossy on heavy poster paper and Paul says these will look just as good. Fair warning, the posters have not been printed yet. This is a pre-order, the printed posters will begin shipping on August 18th (roughly one month from now). Continue reading
